As a result of a third-party power interruption this morning, the Valero Houston Refinery used the safety flare system to manage excess material and minimize potential emissions. The refinery is focused on restoring operations safely while limiting emissions to the extent possible, and may experience intermittent flaring for limited periods. No community impacts are anticipated. This is a courtesy message from the INVISTA Houston located at Allen Genoa and La Porte Freeway in Houston. Today is_Monday, February 23rd_____. We are in the process of re-starting the plant following a maintenance outage. During the start-up there may be periods of flaring and steam venting operations and nearby neighbors may be able to see the flare and hear the steam venting system. The flaring and steam venting pose no danger to the community and no action is necessary. We will take every precaution to minimize the flaring conditions and duration of the flaring activity.
